Rolling thunder, lightening claps, funnel clouds, roaring winds, storm sire...Dorothy, you are in Kansas!  Storms opens with the listener in the middle of a developing storm on the prairie, throwing them into the first wave of heavy winds, rain, thunder and lighting. Directors will find ample battery solo moments and unison pit runs to show off technique.

Part 2 portrays the feeling of a warm spring rain in forest. This is the front ensemble's chance to shine and a great opportunity for a visual moment on the floor.

Part 3 is a transition and introduction to the second wave of the big storm. Small battery solos, with quick moving pit lines start to build tension - released when the big storm hits in part 4. Like a hurricane blowing in off the coast, sirens blare and you are washed over by waves of sound and motion.

As the storm fades away you are left with peaceful sound of the water retreating as the sun reappears and it is the start of new day.
